Thuravoor (Alappuzha): Thycattusserry awaits visitors with its spectacular views of backwaters in the wake of the summer holidays. The Thycattusserry tourism project will be completed within two months, stated the officials. The construction of eight pillars is already over and the work of the garden is in progress.

The tourism department had estimated an expense of Rs 2.5 crores for the project. An open stage, toilet block, tiled walkways, garden, benches, electric lamps will be set up in the first stage.

The bridge in Thycattusserry was opened recently for the public, and the number of people visiting here increases day by day. However, since there were no facilities for the people to sit and relax here, former MLA AM Ariff proposed the idea of expansion.

The expenses of the project are met from the MLA fund and by the tourism department. Two contractors who took up the works have abandoned the project and it is the third contractor who is completing the works.
