Kayaking trial at Periyar river in Ayyappan Kovil
Ayyappan Kovil: When Idukki tourism awakes after removing the lockdown restrictions, Periyar river is all set to welcome Kayaking too. The new adventurous sport has been planned to begin at Ayyappan Kovil. The boats that carry two persons and the one used for solo sails had been trialled successfully.
This new tourism project will be implemented soon with the combined efforts of district governing bodies, panchayat and DTPC. With the cooperation of Ayyappan Kovil Grama Panchayat, an amenity centre and related facilities will also be set up in the location.
The tourists who visit Idukki for a day’s trip will be able to visit Idukki dam, Anjuruli, Ayyappan Kovil and Wagamon. The launch of Kayaking in Idukki will definitely be an asset to the tourism sector of the district, said the District Development Commissioner Arjun Pandyan. He informed that such minor plans will be soon introduced in the other locations too with tourism potential.
