Kerala to become global wedding-honeymoon destination, tourism dept launches novel projects

New Delhi: In the wake of the latest achievements and global awards, the Kerala Tourism Department is all set to launch new projects to attract tourists.

The goal is to present innovative wedding and honeymoon destinations for couples and introduce them to rural life and culture.

With the aim of bringing more tourists to the state, the tourism department also organised ‘Kerala Tourism Partnership Meet 2022-23’,a domestic marketing strategy event, in Delhi.

“The department has initiated numerous projects to promote Kerala as a global wedding and honeymoon destination. In addition, caravan tourism, which has been implemented on an experimental basis, will be extended further,” said the authorities.

The Kochi Muziris Biennale is one of the major platforms that marks Kerala's tourism activities in the domestic and international markets.

Meanwhile, houseboats, residences in forests, plantation visits, homestays, ayurveda treatment centres, trekking, village walks ought to offer a unique experience for the tourists too.

Last year, Kerala had created a record in terms of the number of domestic tourists visiting the state. As per data, a total of 1.33 crore domestic tourists visited here within the first three phases of the year. Reportedly, there has been a rise of 1.94 per cent, when compared with the data of the pe-pandemic year.
