Kerala govt allots Rs 1 crore for fourth phase of integrated tourism project in Beypore

Beypore: The Kerala government has issued an order allotting Rs 1 crore for completing the fourth phase of integrated tourism project in Beypore. Tourism minister Mohamed Riyas opined that with the completion of the project in March next year, Beypore is set to become an international model for responsible tourism.

The Arabian sea, Chaliyar river, Pulimoodu, Beypore port, Kadalundi bird sanctuary, and the Kadalundi mangrove forests add to the beauty of the Beypore region. International art and fashion festivals will also be held highlighting the rich culture and tradition of the region.

The government has already allotted Rs 4 lakhs for installing waste management facilities in certain areas of the region. Rs 10 lakhs has been allotted for purchasing e-auto rickshaws for women from the RT mission societies for facilitating carbon neutral packages. Rs 5 lakhs has been kept aside for establishing a green destination project in Kadalundi.

Apart from this, funds will be distributed among all the units working in collaboration with the government for developing tourism in the region. Trainers and the tour operators involved in the project will also be paid accordingly.

The international festivals celebrating the culture of the region will be organised at an estimated budget of Rs 55 lakhs. Rs 14 lakhs will be spent on a proposed surfing school and on other marketing packages.
