Kannur: Haritheerthakkara waterfalls here has gained popularity among travel lovers recently. The waterfalls situtated at Chooral offer an exuberant monsoon treat for the visitors.
The river gushing through the dense forest and rippling waters of the fall entice anyone who flocks here to enjoy the visuals.
Route
The waterfalls, also known as Ariyil waterfalls, is located in Kankol- Alappadamba panchayat, 12 kilometres away from Payyannur. A road from Chooral bus stop in the Mathil- Padiyottuchal road takes one to this magnificent falls. The river originating from Vellarikka canal and Velicham canal join the Perumba river.

Compared to other waterfalls, Ariyil waterfalls are less prone to accidents. Hence, it is considered to be the best spot to spend a holiday with family. However, sufficient water will be present here only during the rainy season.
Developmental works
The panchayat has rolled out various measures to conserve the waterfall by entrusting workers under MGNREGA. The works to construct a concrete road, bridge and bunds were also initiated by considering the tourism potential of Haritheerthakkara waterfalls. Panchayat president MV Sunilkumar informed that support works worth Rs 1 crore will be launched to raise Ariyil waterfalls as one of the finest tourist spots in Kannur with the support of TI Madhusoodanan MLA.
