Mohana

Kochi: The globetrotting tea-seller couple had pinned Japan among the various destinations they had to cover. Though one of them passed away, the other is all set to fulfil the dream which they had seen together. Mohana, wife of late Vijayan, has decided to set off for a trip to Japan on March 21, 2023.

Vijayan and Mohana

The travels of Vijayan and Mohana grabbed the headlines as they were an elderly couple, who set off to different countries from the income obtained from their tea stall. Their first visit outside India was to Egypt in 2007. Later, they travelled to the USA, France, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Russia and many more countries. They explored as many as 26 countries together.

If the couple could not raise money from the daily income, they resorted to chits or KSFE loans to fund their journeys. Unfortunately, Vijayan breathed his last in November 2021, at the age of 76.

Mohana’s daughter Usha and her son-in-law Murali will join her on the trip to Japan this time. A private tour facilitating institution will sponsor the expenses of Mohana.

Vijayan had decided to make small trips after completing the journey to Japan, recollected Mohana.
