Biodiversity Board to set up marine museum in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: A marine museum will soon be set up at the heritage building of the Biodiversity Board in Vallakkadavu in the Thiruvananthapuram district. The marine creatures will be preserved in formalin or stuffed in the museum to facilitate the learning and research of oceanic life.

The rare fish species and molluscs that live near the rocks on the ocean bottom, fish that catch their prey only in sheer darkness, huge crab species, corals, fish that thrive near the coral reefs and many other similar marine organisms will be displayed in the museum. Bones of many of the marine creatures will be exhibited here.
