Alluring nature: ‘Charlie’-fame spot in Idukki entices travel lovers

Idukki: Peerumedu made its way into the hearts of Malayalis through the Dulquer Salman starrer movie ‘Charlie’. Even after seven years of the release of the movie, visitors flock to this scenic hamlet to get plunged into nature's core.

The major location for the movie Charlie was Peerumedu near Old Pambanar, which was referred to as Vattavada in the movie. It has been situated amidst the picturesque Ladram tea plantation.

The old age home shown in ‘Charlie’ is actually a Govt LP school here. The village lane passing in front of this school is currently a favourite spot for travellers, vloggers and couples.

The narrow paths dividing the tea plantations and the casuarina trees standing in perfect rows allure nature lovers. During the rainy season, a pond will be formed on both sides of this lane. Nature's beauty gets enriched during the arrival of snow.

Visitors can reach here by travelling five kilometres from Old Pambanar on Kottarakkara- Dindigul National Highway. Several scenes in Mammootty’s ‘Thappana’ and Mohanlal’s ‘Lucifer’ were shot here. Tamil and Telugu movie crews are hitting the spot for shooting.
