Kollam: Kerala Police has warned WhatsApp users to stay cautious over calls from unknown numbers. Recently, reports released by Home Ministry indicate that WhatsApp users are receiving spam calls from outside the country.

Addressing the issue, Minister of State for IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar recently said that his ministry would send a notice to WhatsApp. Following this, WhatsApp responded by saying that the company is aligned with the government in ensuring safety of the users.

The majority of these spam calls come from Indonesia (+62), Vietnam (+84), Malaysia (+60), Kenya (+254) and Ethiopia (+251). The police officials advised users to avoid taking calls from such numbers and suggested blocking these callers.

Users must avoid clicking on suspicious links shared through WhatsApp chats. Experts point out that scamsters could steal personal information and other details.
