Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Spatial Data Infrastructure (KSDI) under Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) has rolled out Kerala Geoportal 2.0, a revamped version of the spatial data portal. From locations of government hospitals to tribal hamlets, the platform integrates geospatial data which come under various government departments.

Locations of Akshaya centres, anganwadis and areas with KFON coverage are some of the details available in the platform that can be useful for commoners.

The platform is equipped with a system to share and explore data related to the state's political and administrative boundaries, natural resources, transportation and infrastructure, demography, agro and socio-economy etc. This can be used by policymakers, entrepreneurs, and researchers for various purposes.

The platform at present lists a collection of maps. There are 22 maps which show details like the density of government offices in Kerala, fire and rescue stations and roads over the drainage network.

It is learnt that more features will be updated soon. The platform has been pushed into a public data platform. However, privacy and data security concerns need to be addressed if new features involving citizen data are incorporated.
