Visually enthralling tiny bird beauties of Costa Rica
Small is beautiful. In case of tiny birds, it is not only beautiful but also enthralling due to their sparkling colours. For wildlife photographers, they offer a rare experience for photography.
John Anthony from Kochi had been to Costa Rica recently and was dazzled as to where to focus the camera for these tiny birds came in like a kaleidoscope of colours. He had seen many but was captivated by a few that had inexplicable features.
White-necked Jacobin was one that stirred him with prominent white patches ventrally and a dark blue hood. It is one of the most sought-after hummingbird variety in Costa Rica when nature lovers and wildlife photographers trek slowly led by the guides there.
Most of the hummingbirds are so tiny in appearance.
Green Hermit Hummingbird, with the needle type beak, oozes nectar from the flowers flapping their wings. Its extremely long and curved beak penetrates the flowers so meticulously.
The hummingbirds are distributed in central America mainly but extends to Mexico and the Caribbean islands.
