This is how commissioner G Poonkuzhali impressed Sachin Tendulkar
Kochi is a familiar place for Sachin. He had won Man of the Match title as a bowler at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Kochi. After retiring from cricket, he returned to Kochi to cheer from the football gallery as the co-owner of Kerala Blasters. Sachin is aware of the difficulties faced by Kochi police in maintaining law and order.
G.Poonkuzhali, the deputy commissioner of police in Kochi, is engaged in duty without disappointing the public amid the lockdown. Sachin asked Poonkuzhali about her message to the children being a police officer, a post which is always admired by the children.
On the occassion of Mother's Day, the cricketer wanted to know from the lady police officer on her message to the children in this strange situation amid the lockdown over coronavirus outbreak.
“I am in the police force and my husband is in navy. As both of us are in uniformed service, we find time for our family with mutual cooperation. As a mother and a public servant, I want to advise the children to grow up with responsibility,” said Poonkuzhali.
“To make children responsible in life, mothers should teach them to share things between others, train them to have mutual respect and appreciate others for their good jobs. Always boost children to be independent. Naturally, they will commit some mistakes. But mothers should make them capable to overcome every mistake and challenges by themselves. Success and failure are part of life. Make our children ready to accept it in their own way and move on. Children are most attached to mothers. Only a mother can make a sense of responsibility among the children,” added the police officer.
Sachin was really impressed with Poonkuzhali’s reply. He pointed out that this mother’s advice must be followed by society.
Honouring the effort of all mothers, the ‘God of Cricket’ stated that he believes women are the backbone of all families.
