Malappuram: In the holy month of Ramadan Puthanveetil Suryanarayanan has become an exemplar of communal harmony through his brotherly munificence of getting painted a mosque located near Kuruva village office in Vattallur. The NRI was struck by the drab exterior of the place of worship amid the flurry of painting activity going on in other mosques and houses to welcome the holy month.

Suryanarayanan took upon himself the initiative to redress the situation. He had come home for the Ramadan holidays from Qatar, where he is employed. This lover of the faithful avers that his gesture was not motivated by any temptation of fame but would be glad if others were to be inspired to emulate him.

The act went viral. Soon, Panakkad Sayyid Moyeenali Shihab Thangal praised this unique enterprise. On Facebook, now rebranded as Meta, the national vice president of the Muslim Youth League said in our times when walls of division are being erected on caste and religious grounds, such magnanimity by ‘Vattallurkaarudae Suryaettan’ provides happiness.

Moyeenali Shihab Thangal added that the hope of society lies in the existence of large numbers of such persons of goodwill like Suryanarayanan in our midst.
