Kerala health workers assigned to report issues like domestic violence, child marriage among others

Alappuzha: Kerala health department has assigned health workers to report issues like domestic violence, and child marriage among others. The move comes as the execution of the department’s revamp measures.

At present, health workers are looking into community health, infanticide, and substance abuse. As per the updated responsibilities, the health workers are supposed to report violations like:

  • Sexual assault on women and children
  • Domestic violence
  • Child labour
  • Atrocities against senior citizens, differently-abled individuals
Apart from that, health workers should ensure the mandates under Panchayat Raj Act are not flouted. They will have to look into issues at houses, manufacturing units, factories, commerce and business establishments, cattle farms, slaughterhouses, guest worker camps, schools, hostels and lodges.

However, according to media reports, specifics on new responsibilities are not yet available.
