Thiruvananthapuram: Around 254 private hospitals, including the ones in other states, have empanelled for MEDISEP, Kerala government’s much touted insurance scheme for government staff and pensioners. However, a section of major health institutes in Kerala, including the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST) has distanced from the scheme.

Around 20 institutes have distanced from the collaboration. It is learnt that these institutes do not find it practical to provide treatments at the rate prescribed by the state government.

According to finance minister KN Balagopal, the state government is deliberating with these institutes to ensure their collaboration. State government is hopeful that more institutes will be a part of the scheme in the near future.

The list of hospitals where cashless treatment is available along with the type of treatments available there has been published in MEDISEP’s online portal and finance minister’s Facebook post.
