Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 7798 new Covid cases on Monday, informed a press release issued by the health department. With 100 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 14,686. Test positivity rate was recorded at 9.14 percent.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur-1092, Kozhikode-780, Kollam-774, Malappuram-722, Thiruvananthapuram- 676, Palakkad-664, Alappuzha-602, Ernakulam-582, Kasaragod-553, Kannur-522, Kottayam-363, Pathanamthitta-202, Wayanad-137 and Idukki 129.
A total of 85,307 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. In total, 2,45,09,870 samples including routine sample, sentinel sample, CBNAAT, Truenat, POCT, PCR, RTLAMP, antigen were sent for the tests.
32 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 7202 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 530 patients remains unidentified.
The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Thrissur-1085, Kozhikode-743, Kollam-768, Malappuram-705, Thiruvananthapuram-447, Palakkad-388, Alappuzha-575, Ernakulam-564, Kasaragod-543, Kannur-595, Kottayam-337, Pathanamthitta-196, Wayanad-130 and Idukki-126.
34 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 8 were from Kannur, 6 from Ernakulam, 5 from Kasaragod, 4 from Wayanad, 3 from Kollam, 2 each from Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Palakkad and 1 each from Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.
Meanwhile, 11,447 recoveries were also reported in the state.
The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 898, Kollam-1177, Pathanamthitta-359, Alappuzha-669, Kottayam-506, Idukki-227, Ernakulam-1046, Thrissur-1222, Palakkad-1023, Malappuram-1485, Kozhikode-1378, Wayanad-282, Kannur-578 and Kasargod-597.
With this, the number of active cases touched 1,11,093 in the state. 29,46,870 people recovered from the disease so far.
3,81,673 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 3,56,888 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 24,785 people are in hospitals. 1862 people were taken to hospitals on Monday.
There are 86 local bodies with TPR below 5 percent; 382 local bodies with TPR between 5-10 percent; 370 local bodies with TPR between 10-15 percent and 196 local bodies with TPR above 15 percent.
