The Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) have come out against MLA KB Ganesh Kumar for his remarks against doctors.

Ganesh on the other day while highlighting the issue of medical negligence had said that “some doctors deserve to be beaten”.

According to IMA, his remarks fall as incitement to riot and in case any health professional is attacked he also should be held accountable for it.

His remarks are unfortunate, IMA and KGMOA noted. Reports suggest both oragnisations are about to lodge a complaint with the health minister and chief minister.

Many health professional organisations in the state have been accusing the government of its lukewarm approach in addressing the attacks on health workers. The remarks of the lone MLA of Kerala Congress (B) affiliated to the ruling faction comes at this juncture, making the organisations more exasperated.
