Health Minister directs to register rare diseases at SAT Hospital

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Health Veena George has ordered to register all rare diseases reported in the state under the Centre of Excellence at Sree Avittom Thirunal Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The minister directed this during the meeting held to analyse the functioning of the Centre for Excellence.

Necessary treatment will be ensured to the patients at the hospitals in their localities soon after they register via the Centre of Excellence. SAT Hospital will establish a Genetics Department to deal with the rare diseases only. These facilities are being set up for the first time in a Medical College in Kerala.

The Minister has directed to submit the guidelines for the facilities that have to be set up post graduation courses in the hospital.
