Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of Health Veena George informed that a free annual health checkup will be conducted for all citizens who crossed 30 years of age to diagnose lifestyle diseases and the possibilities of it.
The minister informed the Kerala legislative assembly that a registry of lifestyle diseases will also be formed. The medical checkups have already commenced in 140 panchayats of the state and have examined over 1.3 lakh people as of now.
A campaign will be soon initiated in Kerala to create awareness over kidney-related illnesses. The department of health will take efforts to popularise peritoneal dialysis which could be performed at houses, instead of the expensive hemodialysis.
Currently the project has begun in 11 districts and will be launched soon in the remaining districts. Replying to Ramachandran Kadannappalli's submission, the minister said that there are dialysis facilities in the 97 health institutions all over the state.
