Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has more than 1,000 active Covid-19 cases and the state on Wednesday recorded the highest single-day spike of 210 cases after months. The highest numbers are from Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram.
The surge calls for citizens to keep their guard up against Covid-19, at a time when the state has been witnessing influenza cases.
Meanwhile, the state health department has urged citizens to mandatorily wear masks in all public places. The health minister convened a high-level meeting the other day to take stock of the situation.
The government will increase genome sequencing of samples to identify new variants, the health minister said.
