Writer TG Jacob passes away


TG Jacob

Tamil Nadu: Writer, publisher and Left thinker TG Jacob (72) passed away. He passed away at around 5:30 am on December 25 at a rented house in Gudalur here. He was the editor of ‘Massline’.

Jacob was also the editor of Odyssey Publishing and a researcher at the South Asia Study Centre, Nilgiris. He worked as a news analyst from 1989 to 1990 at Tribune, a journal published from Chandigarh.

He has written 14 books including, ‘Reflection On The Caste Question: The Dalit Situation In South India’ and ‘Left to Right: Decline of Communism in India’.

Born on May 21, 1951, in Adoor, Jacob completed his Masters in economics from Kerala University in 1974. From 1975 to 76, he did his PhD at JNU.

Jacob’s wife Pranjali Bandhu, a native of Pune, was his classmate at JNU. She is a writer.
