Sarah Joseph wins Women Writer's Prize awarded by SheThePeople


The member of the Judging Committee for the award, Preeti Gill said that ‘Budhini’ is the telling of a beautiful and strong story in a compassionate way.

New Delhi: The Women Writer's Prize awarded by SheThePeople, a digital media website that focuses on women related news, for the year 2022 was declared. Sarah Joseph’s novel ‘Budhini’ won the title. The prize includes a cash award of Rs 50,000.

A member of the Judging Committee for the award, Preeti Gill, said that ‘Budhini’ tells a beautiful and strong story compassionately. G Sampath and Lakshmi Subodh were the other members of the panel.

The novel, which was published in Mathrubhumi Weekly in parts, was translated into English by Sarah Joseph’s daughter, novelist and scriptwriter Sangeetha Sreenivasan. Budhini won the prize out of five other shortlisted books.
