Kozhikode: Mathrubhumi Weekly Vishu Special Edition Literary Competition results has been announced. Kavya Ayyappan, MA Malayalam student in Aluva UC College, won the first prize in short story category for her story ‘Oravakuthi’.
Vidya Vijayan, Malayalam research student in Kalady Sanskrit University, won second prize for the story ‘Urumbupotta’ while D P Abhijith, MA Malayalam student in Kalady Sanskrit University, came third with his story ‘Blood Revolution’.
The winners in all three positions will be awarded a felicitation letter and a cash prize of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
In poetry category, Aswani R Jeevan, a research student in Kozhikode Farook College, and Anu Usha, MA Malayalam student in Thiruvananthapuram Government Women’s College, shared the first prize.
Subin Unnikrishnan of Pattambi Sanskrit College and Kavya PG, a research student at Palakkad ITI, won second prize. Vishnupriya of Thiruvananthapuram Government Engineering College and Althaf Pathinarungal of Calicut University shared the third prize.
The winners will get a felicitation letter and a cash prize of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
The jury panel in short story category included K S Ravikumar, N P Hafis Mohammed and Ambikasuthan Mangad. In poetry category, the jury members were KGS, Vijayalakshmi and Veerankutty.
The prize-winning entries and the note by the jury will be published in Mathrubhumi Weekly Vishu Special Edition which will hit the stands on Tuesday. The 116-page edition is priced Rs 30.
