Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan launches MP Suryadas' book ‘Indraprasthathile Rashtriya Sanchari'.
Kozhikode: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on Sunday criticised Congress for ignoring former MP KP Unnikrishnan. He pointed out that that the Congress did not utilise the capabilities of KP Unnikrishnan when he returned to the party. He also said that Unnikrishnan was a political leader who proved that stance and determination are more important than recognitions.
The chief minister was releasing the book titled ‘Indraprasthathile Rashtriya Sanchari’ written by MP Suryadas and published by Mathrubhumi Books at the Sree Narayana Centenary Hall.
“Unnikrishnan is a person who took a stand against communalism and stood for secularism throughout his life,” the chief minister said. He added that Unnikrishnan had to distance himself even from Indira Gandhi because of his strong stance.
“One cannot forget Unnikrishnan’s contribution to what led to the formation of the VP Singh government,” Vijayan said.
Minister AK Saseendran received the book from the chief minister. Chairman and Managing Editor of Mathrubhumi, PV Chandran, presided over the function. Chandran said that Unnikrishnan was a hardcore socialist who used his positions of authority for the development of society in a meaningful way.
KP Unnikrishnan said in his reply speech that he has never seen politics as a futile pursuit of power. “I tried to guide people in the right path,” he said.
Minister PA Mohamed Riyas, Mathrubhumi Director (Digital Business) Mayura Shreyams Kumar, former deputy editor MP Surendran and writer MP Suryadas also spoke at the event.
