Give a call to librarian; books will be delivered at doorstep

Sheeba delivering books at households

Guruvayur: A responsible librarian, Sheeba Chandran could not take rest even during lockdown and the library was closed. She started delivering books at households in order to promote reading. The readers only have to give a call to Sheeba's phone.

Sheeba is the librarian of Kandanassery Gramin Library. The library was started under the leadership of writer Kovilan about 75 years ago. Now there are about 20,000 books in the library. On World Book Day which fell on April 23, Sheeba managed to deliver 50 books at the house of people who requested.

When the library was closed following the lockdown, Sheeba started delivering books to readers' households. No matter how distant the readers are living, Sheeba manages to deliver the books. As the door delivery of books commenced, the number of women readers also increased, said Sheeba.
