Thiruvananthapuram: Literary critic Dr M Leelavathy has bagged this year’s ONV Literary Award. The award comprises of a purse of Rs 3 lakh, sculpture and felicitation letter.

The award winner was selected by a jury with C Radhakrishnan as chairman and Prabha Varma and Dr Anil Vallathol as members. Earlier, Sugathakumari, M T Vasudevan Nair and Akkitham had won the award. Leelavathy has been selected for the fourth award.

Dr M Leelavathy has made immense contributions as a teacher, poet, biographer and translator. Her major works include Varnaraji, Amrithamashnuthe, Malayala Kavitha Sahithya Charithram, Appuvinte Anweshanam, Navatharangam and Valmeeki Ramayana Vivarthanam.

The award will be handed over to Leelavathy at her residence in Kochi, informed Adoor Gopalakrishnan, the chairman of ONV Cultural Academy.
