Thrissur: Writer and educationist Dr M Leelavathy has been selected for this year's Guru Shreshta Award instituted by the All Kerala Parents and Teachers Association (AKPTA). Also they announced Karma Shreshta Awards for noted personalities in various sectors.

Ibrahim Haji (education - manager of AKM Higher Secondary School in Kottoor), M P Surendran (print media - former deputy editor of Mathrubhumi), Dr K Arun Kumar (visual media - associate executive editor of 24 News channel), Dr V G Suresh (health - medical director of Aswini Hospital in Thrissur), Dr K B Suresh (charity - chairman of Karuna Foundation in Guruvayur), Vinod Kumar K and Pradeep C V (law and order - assistant district nodal officer of Student Police Cadet) and Balram Babu (law and order - assistant station officer of Fire Force) were selected for the Karma Shreshta Awards.
