Kozhikode: The autobiography of Madhav Gadgil, the man who dedicated his life for the protection of the mountain range of Western Ghats, has been published in Malayalam by Mathrubhumi weekly.
The book is dedicated to the environmentalist Alexander von Bismarck who died under mysterious circumstances in Goa. In the autobiography, Gadgil talks about his childhood in Pune, his research journeys with the Indian sociologist, anthropologist and family friend, Irawati Karve and the friendship between his father, Salim Ali and Ambedkar. Environmentalist Vinod Payyada is the translator.
Gadgil said in the voice message sent to Mathrubhumi weekly that he has tried to document his life and his endeavours for the protection of the environment as it is and he expects that his book will get a good reception from Malayalis.
The English version is yet to hit the stands.
