Perumanna (Kozhikode): A giant bunch of banana that grew in a house compound at Puthoormadam here is pulling the crowd. The bunch of banana is about six-feet tall and weighs 65 kilograms.
The huge sized banana grew on a plant belonging to Robusta (Cavendish) variety at the residence of Edakkad native Musthafa. He had received the sapling of this plant from Perumanna Krishi Bhavan. He bought ten saplings together.
A businessman by profession, Musthafa planted the banana sapling in his compound and took care of it. Though all ten saplings grew and bore fruit, only one of them had the giant bunch of banana. All other plants had banana bunches in normal size.
