Thiruvananthapuram: Mohanlal will soon be seen in an advertisement that calls for avoiding contaminated vegetables. The Malayalam superstar will act free of cost in the advertisement that is part of the agricultural department’s ‘Jeevani’ programme. The advertisement will be of 30 seconds.

Through ‘Jeevani’ programme, awareness on the importance of using pesticide-free vegetables will be created and agriculture will be promoted. The State health department will join hands with agriculture department in the production of the advertisement. It will be promoted through social media, television channels and theatres.

The promotional campaign will last 470 days, starting from January 2020 till April 2021. The promotion 100 seed varieties that has been given the geographical indication tag and starting vegetable cultivation in 2500 schools are all part of ‘Jeevani’ programme.

The state needs 20 lakh tonne vegetables. When the government came to power, the production was at six lakh tonnes, now it stands at 12 lakh tonnes. The aim is to take it to 15 lakh tonnes.
