Palakkad: Kerala Agriculture Department has completed measures to roll out social audit systems in Krishi Bhavans for recommending immediate solutions to redress complaints of farmers.

Though the master plan for the scheme had been prepared in 2018, further proceedings were delayed due to certain technical glitches. Department of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare director TV Subhash opined that the social audit system will help improve the transparency and build trust of farmers on Krishi Bhavans.

In the initial phase, the social audit system will be installed in each selected Krishi Bhavan across 14 districts of the state. Later, the system will be deployed in other Krishi Bhavans also. The auditing will begin in the beginning of 2023.

The operations of the social audit system will be scrutinised by a team under the Agriculture director. The system will be expanded to other Krishi Bhavans by incorporating necessary changes proposed by the team. Farmers’ representatives, social activists, representatives of other sectors and anyone related to the functioning of the Krishi Bhavan can directly record their opinions in this system.
