Kattakada: DGP Jacob Thomas on Friday donned a new role that of a farmer. At a farmland in Sidhashram in Mannoorkara, where he had sown seeds three months back, he inaugurated the harvest.
Harvesting of the five-and-a-half acres of this organic farm was done by the inmates of the ashram and farmers.
A PhD holder in agriculture science, Jacob Thomas said that farming is the best way for better health and happiness. Onam is related to agriculture, so decided to celebrate this Onam in this way, he added.
The ashram authorities said that he had given instructions for the farming. Vechur cow is one speciality of the ashram. An organic vegetable farm including plantain, spinach and pea is grown here.
