Edavanna (Malappuram): For East Chathallur native Majeed, his grocery shop and farming are equally important. He manages both, business and agriculture with same interest. This time, he also tried dryland paddy farming in a 4-cent plot close to his shop.

Though Majeed had cultivated paddy last year, the plants dried shortly. He did not give up and tried again with Aishwarya paddy seed variety. However, people kept questioning him for cultivating paddy in such a small plot. He did not heed to them and actively engaged in the farm works. Finally, paddy flourished and was grandly harvested.

People flocked to see the harvesting and even a local social media channel team arrived to capture the visuals of the same. The harvest festival was organised by Edavanna polytechnic teacher C T Nifad and KSEB employee Shajahan Kurikkal. Majeed wishes to expand paddy farming if he gets a larger plot. He also cultivates vegetables in a leased land.
