Tallest yam plant
Binu John with 12-feet-tall yam plant in his farm

Vellarikkundu (Kasaragod): Grabbing eyeballs, an elephant foot yam plant has grown to a height of over 12 feet here.

The giant yam plant is growing in the farm of West Eleri native Binu John.

Binu is trying to enter the Guinness world record for the tallest yam plant. The current world record is held by a yam plant which is less than 10 feet tall.

Binu is happy to be known as the farmer who grew the tallest yam plant though cultivation was badly hit by the Covid crisis.
