Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday took to Facebook to share his greetings on Chingam 1, the day observed as New Year and farmer’s day based on Malayalam Calendar.
“The farmer’s day is much more relevant as farmers in our country are in a crisis phase. The country has been witnessing protests against neoliberal policies that damages security of the farmers. We should extend our support to them and strive against such policies,” he noted in his Facebook post.
He also urged the citizens to support and democratize the alternative agricultural policies pursued by the state government.
“We can progress together by protecting our rich heritage of agriculture and welfare of farmers,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan too shared his New Year greetings.
