The Kerala government is providing assistance to farmers in the state who are facing a crisis due to natural calamities and coronavirus outbreak. The state agriculture department will provide financial assistance for integrated farming through the Rebuild Kerala Initiative.
As part of the 'Jaivagriham' project, integrated farming programme is implemented by combining at least five agriculture ventures such as crop farming, animal husbandry, poultry farming, beekeeping, and fish farming.
This project ensures intelligent utilisation of space, time and energy and guarantees permanent income for the farmers. Those who have farm land with an area ranging from 5 cents to 2 hectares can become beneficiaries of the project.
The officials will visit the farm of the selected farmers to prepare a farm plan and assess the implemented system. Rs 30,000 will be given for those who have 5-30 cents of land, Rs 40,000 for 31-40 cents of land and Rs 50,000 for those who have 41 cents-2 hectares of land as per conditions.
The project will also provide financial assistance to improve the basic facilities in the already existing integrated farms. The farmers have to contact the Krishi Bhavan and submit a duly filled application form given from there.
