RSS-BJP trying to bring Kummanam Rajasekharan back to Kerala for LS polls
Kottayam: Chances of Mizoram governor Kummanam Rajasekharan returning to the political scene in Kerala has increased significantly with the state leadership of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) seeking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national leadership to bring him back to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The request was officially put forward in a meeting held in Kollam between the RSS leadership and national general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal. The BJP state leadership has also sought Ram Lal to bring Kummanam Rajasekharan back to Kerala. The BJP state core committee meeting was also held on Wednesday. National president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take a final decision on the matter. RSS national leadership’s opinion will be significant.
The BJP is gearing up to field Kummanam Rajasekharan in Thiruvananthapuram, where the party has high hopes of success. RSS leadership wants either Kummanam Rajasekharan or Suresh Gopi to contest from Thiruvananthapuram. Earlier, there were rumours that superstar Mohanlal will contest the polls in a BJP ticket. However, the actor has reportedly denied this.
Meanwhile, Kummanam Rajasekharan will arrive in Kerala on Thursday evening to attend an official function as the Mizoram governor.
