Small – medium industries eliminated; Who had the good days? Asks Rahul Gandhi
Thiruvananthapuram: Demonetization and ‘Gabbar Sigh tax’ resulted in total elimination of small and medium industries, said Congress president Rahul Gandhi. He was speaking at a public meeting convened at Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium as part of election campaigning.
“Whose good days had come? Anil Ambani gained crores through Rafale deal. He has not built a plane in his life. All his companies he started were failures. His debts were cleared by his brother. But the biggest defence deal was given to him. What is his eligibility? HAL has been building airplanes for 70 years. But they were rejected for Rafale deal. French president revealed about Indian Prime Minister’s intervention. I had raised all these questions in Parliament. But our PM, in one and half hour long speech never mentioned Rafale or Anil Ambani.”
People had earlier thought ‘Ache din’ will come. But now the slogan has emerged ‘Chowkidar Chor Hain’. Crores were given to Vijay Mallya, Neerav Modi and Anil Ambani. This money was funded from commoners through demonetization. They had promised Rs 15 lakh in everyone’s account. Common people stood hours in queue in banks. No industrialist had stood in queue.,” Rahul alleged.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran, Congress candidates Shashi Tharoor and Adoor Prakash attended the meeting.
