Priyanka attacks NDA govt; goes soft on Left in Wayanad
Mananthavady: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who reached Wayanad as part of election campaign for Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, came down heavily on the BJP and NDA-led central government. Meanwhile, like Rahul Gandhi, she too went soft on the Left Front without even mentioning once the state government or the Left Front. She said that the NDA government had "betrayed" the faith of the people who had voted it to power.
“5 years ago, a government came into power that was voted in with a big majority. In all their wisdom, people of our country placed their faith and hopes in BJP government. That government, from the moment it came to power, began to betray that faith,” she said.
They began to believe that power belonged to them and not people. First indication of this gross misunderstanding came when their own Pres declared shortly after the election that promise of Rs 15 Lakh in every bank account was just for sake of elections, what he called a 'jumla', she added.
Modi government cheated adivasis, commoners and farmers. They destroyed the economy of the country. The government stood only by certain people, she alleged.
Priyanka also shared her childhood memories with Rahul Gandhi and said “I stand here on behalf of a man who I've known from the day I was born. He'll be your candidate in this election and over last 10 years has faced massive personal attack from his opponents. They've sought to portray a character of his which is very far from truth”.
Congress aims at empowering the people. They tried to insult the whole Gandhi family starting from Rahul’s grandmother. Rahul is learning about all religions. He knowns more on values of Hinduism than those claims to be watchmen of Hinduism, Priyanka further said.
