LS Polls: CPM not to field members in charge of committees
Kollam: When Lok Sabha polls are round the corner, CPM state leadership has decided that district secretaries and members in charge of committees will not contest in the elections. At present 20 CPM members, including central and state committee members, are serving at party headquarters here. Among them 7 are ministers and two are MPs. If people in charge of administrative roles are excluded, only 10 people are in charge of the committees.
Earlier, the party had planned to field district secretary P Jayarajan at Vadakara. But the plan has been quashed as Jayarajan was booked in Shukoor murder case and the probe team has filed the chargesheet in the case.
Meanwhile, the discussions on LDF candidates for the Lok Sabha polls are in final phase. Former national president of SFI and electricity board member Dr V Sivadasan is shortlisted as candidate in Vadakara. It is reported that the party is likely to field present SFI national president VP Sanu in Malappuram.
