Kummanam Rajasekharan submits resignation, will contest from Thiruvananthapuram
New Delhi: Kummanam Rajasekharan is returning to active politics and has submitted his resignation from the post of Governor of Mizoram. He will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Thiruvananthapuram constituency.
President Ram Nath Kovind accepted his resignation. Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi will bear the additional charge of Mizoram.
The RSS was firm on its demand to contest Kummanam Rajasekharan. The BJP national leadership also supported the move.
From the beginning, the RSS had the opinion that Kummanam Rajasekharan was the best candidate and nobody else had a better probability of victory in Thiruvananthapuram.
It is said that cross checking Kummanam Rajasekharan’s name in the voter’s list in Thiruvananthapuram was part of the move to contest him. Media in Mizoram had reported that Kummanam Rajasekharan was all set to submit his resignation to contest from Thiruvananthapuram.
