Thiruvananthapuram: Police have registered a case against a voter here for making false allegation about glitches in Electronic Voting Machine.
Abin, a youth was booked by the Thiruvananthapuram medical college police. He alleged that the machine indicated the symbol of another party instead of the party he had voted. But he failed to prove that the machine had a technical issue. Following this, police registered a case against him.
Abin arrived to cast his vote in booth number 15 at Pattam Kendriya Vidyalaya. After voting, he complained that the VVPAT shown wrong results. Following this returning officer received a written complaint from him and decided to carry out a test voting.
The test vote was carried out in the presence of polling agents and other officials. But they have not found any glitches in the machine.
The Election Commission has directed all returning officers to receive written complaint from voters who allege technical issues. If the complaint is found fake, case will be booked against the voters.
