Undecided on contesting from Wayanad; Rahul tells Congress leaders
New Delhi: Congress national president Rahul Gandhi is yet to decide whether to contest the Lok Sabha election from Wayanad constituency or not. He was responding to party leaders who raised the question following speculations of him contesting the LS polls from Wayanad.
The matter has not been discussed in the Congress Working Committee (CWC). However, senior leaders on Monday unofficially asked Rahul if he was contesting from Wayanad. Then the party chief gave his response, reports said.
The Congress election committee meeting is taking place. Following this, AICC general secretary in charge of organization K C Venugopal will hold a press conference. A decision on Rahul’s candidature in Wayanad ma be announced during the press meet.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders in Kerala have promised that Rahul will contest from Wayanad. “Candidates have been named for all the other seats, from where Rahul was likely to contest from. Only Wayanad remains and we believe that Rahul will contest from there,” said former chief minister Oommen Chandy.
