Kannur: The UDF has demanded that a repolling should be conducted in the booths where more than 90 percent polling was marked in Kasaragod constituency. UDF has asked for repolling in about 110 polling booths. The demand has arisen after the visuals of bogus voting in Pilathara AUP School in Kasaragod constituency came to light.
More than 90 percent polling was recorded in 126 booths in Kasaragod. UDF has demanded repolling in 110 booths among them including Thrikaripur, Kalliasseri, Payyannur and Kanhangad assembly segments.
UDF also wanted central forces to be deployed in the polling booths and central government employees to be assigned election duty. UDF leaders will meet the district collector demanding a re-election.
Kannur district collector Mir Mohammed Ali had submitted a report to the state chief electoral officer regarding the bogus voting in Kasaragod. It is learnt that the webcam operator informed the collector that bogus voting took place in the booth.
State Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena will hand over the report to election commission on Monday. The Election Commission of India will take further action on the issue.
