Tharoor, Kodikunnil, Murali considered for post of Cong parliamentary party leader in LS
New Delhi: Congress leaders from Kerala are being considered for the post of parliamentary party leader in the Lok Sabha. Since Rahul Gandhi refused to take up the position, Kodikunnil Suresh, Shashi Tharoor and K. Muraleedharan are considered along with Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Manish Tewari. Meanwhile, K. Muraleedharan said that Rahul Gandhi should take up the position.
Congress received a total of 52 seats in the Lok Sabha. The MP who is elected as the parliamentary party leader will be leading the opposition in the Lok Sabha. Rahul is unlikely to accept the position of parliamentary party chairman in the backdrop of the poll debacle.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury who won from West Bengal and Manish Tewari from Punjab are the leaders in top priority. The most number of MPs of Congress were elected from Kerala. A total of 15 Congress MPs won from the state and this gives prominence to them in national level.
Kodikunnil Suresh who has been an MP for a long time is more likely to be appointed for the post as a Dalit representative. Shashi Tharoor is considered for his global citizen image and his shining victory from Thiruvananthapuram. Senior leader K. Muraleedharan also is considered for the post.
