New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named actor turned politician and Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Gopi as its candidate in Thrissur. The announcement was made in the party’s 15th list of Lok Sabha candidates.
Earlier, the BJP had given the Thrissur LS constituency to its ally Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) and its leader Thushar Vellappally was supposed to contest from there. However, following Rahul Gandhi’s decision to contest from Wayanad, the NDA named Thushar as its candidate from Wayanad.
Following this move, there were reports that Suresh Gopi would contest the LS polls from Thirissur. The LDF has fielded Rajaji Mathew Thomas while the UDF named T N Prathapan as their respective Lok Sabha candidates in Thrissur.
