Kasaragod: Heavy polling was reported in all four booths in Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency where repolling is progressing on Sunday. Over 70 per cent of the voters exercised their franchise till 5 pm.
An altercation broke out between T V Rajesh MLA and a group of UDF activists in connection with bringing voters to booths 69 and 70 at Puthiyangadi Jama Ath High School.
Strong security arrangements are in place to avoid untoward incidents in all the booths in the constituency. The officials are thoroughly checking the identity cards of the voters to ensure that the polling process is conducted without complaints and issues again.
At booth number 48 in Kooliyad government higher secondary school people were standing in queue from 5 am. Those observing Ramadan fasting came to the booths in the morning itself.
K J Charlotte, who was unable to vote last time due to bogus voting exercised her franchise at booth number 19 in Pilathara UP school. After voting, she was escorted out under police security as LDF activists started shouting.
Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, Charlotte said she never thought she would get the opportunity to vote again.
The LDF election committee convenor filed complaint alleging that Rajmohan Unnithan asked votes to people who had lined up for voting at Pilathara School booth number 19 at 6.30 am.
LDF stated that this will be confirmed if the police check the videos at the booth and action should be taken against the candidate for violating Moral Code of Conduct (MCC).
