Record polling in Kerala; voting still underway in many booths
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has recorded more than 70 percent voter turnout in the state's 20 Lok Sabha constituencies. The voter turnout has registered a record polling of 74.45 percent till now. Polling is still underway in many polling booths in the state. It is anticipated that polling will continue to late in the night.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the final tally was 73.89 per cent.
In Kannur alone, at 7 pm 73 percent was registered.
Meanwhile in Birikkulam polling station in Kasaragod, voting was temporarily suspended due to heavy rain.
In Kozhikode, wide complaints are arising of delay.
While voting was slated to formally end at 6 pm, election authorities said all those who enter the polling station compound before that time will be allowed to cast their votes.
