Sultan Bathery: Congress president Rahul Gandhi who arrived in his constituency on Wednesday for campaigning had Kerala sadya served on banana leaf. Rahul liked the solemn lunch with 20 curries like sambar, avial, payaru thoran, kaalan, pineapple pachadi, rasam etc and four varieties of payasams.
The lunch was prepared at Hotel Wilton in Bathery. Among the 20 dishes, avial won the heart of Rahul. The VVIP guest of the hotel appreciated the owner of the hotel Abudul Sathar and didn’t hesitate to enquire about the recipe of avial.
Rahul also tasted ada pradhaman and carrot payasam. Wayanadan chicken fry was tasted as he ate chapatti after rice. The complete dishes were prepared less spicy by chef Anish Balussery.
His lunch was arranged in a special room at St Mary’s college.
Two members of Special Protection Group had arrived at the hotel the previous night to ensure safety and preparation for lunch began around 6am. Two food inspectors were appointed to check the dishes.
Butter nan, chapati, mutton pepper roast, ayakkoora roast, alfam, ginger chicken, golden prawns and wayanadan chicken fry were also prepared according to the list given by UDF leaders.
