Periya: Congress national president Rahul Gandhi visited the families of slain Youth Congress activists Kripesh and Sarath Lal at Periya in Kasaragod. Elaborate security arrangements were made in Periya in view of Rahul Gandhi’s arrival.
Earlier, Rahul addressed the National Fishermen Parliament organised by All India Fishermen Congress in Thriprayar in Thrissur. He vowed to set up a separate ministry for fishermen if the Congress is voted to power in the Lok Sabha elections. He said he was not like Prime Minister Narendra Modi who makes "fake promises".
In the afternoon, Rahul reached Kannur airport where he interacted with the family members of slain Youth Congress activist Shuhaib. Rahul took Shuhaib's nieces on his lap while interacting with the family members.
Senior Congress leaders including Mukul Wasnik, leader of opposition Ramesh Chennithala former chief minister Oommen chandy, KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran are accompanying him.
After visiting the families Rahul will leave for Kozhikode. He will attend a mega rally around 5 pm at Kozhikode beach.
